Frequently Asked Questions

You don’t have to make the journey alone.

What else should I know about spiritual direction?

Spiritual direction is an art, not a science, and so each spiritual director/spiritual companion might answer the following questions differently. Here are my personal answers to some frequently asked questions about spiritual direction.

As a spiritual director, will you tell me what to do?

No. It is not my role to tell you what to do. My role as a spiritual director is to help you discern where Spirit is moving in your life and how you might like to respond.

Is spiritual direction a replacement for psychotherapy?

No.

What sort of time commitment does spiritual direction involve?

One hour-long session per month is the standard time commitment for spiritual direction, with the possibility of additional sessions should circumstances suggest more frequent meeting for a limited period of time.

What sort of financial commitment does spiritual direction involve?

Will I be required to sign a contract?
